Quote For Today: Angelic Virtue

Every virtue in your soul is a precious ornament which makes you dear to God and to man. But holy purity, the queen of virtues, the angelic virtue, is a jewel so precious that those who possess it become like the angels of God in Heaven, even though clothed in mortal flesh.

Manna For The Soul: Finding Opportunities to Reach the World for Christ

image

Then Jesus… said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20

Many people don't recognize the chances they have right in front of them to "change the world"... namely, sharing with the people in their lives what a difference the gospel makes.

The same challenge Jesus gave us in Matthew 28:18-20 is the same challenge I give you today.

You don't have to travel to another country to share this message. Just look in your own backyard and you'll find opportunities to change the world... one life at a time!

Prayer Challenge

Jesus, make me aware of the opportunities to change the world that are in front of me. Give me strength and courage to reach out to people in my own neighborhood with Your message.

MANNA FOR THE SOUL: THE SEARCH

"But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
(Jeremiah 29:13)

"Search for Me with all your heart! That is the secret. A half-hearted search will never yield a harvest of knowing Me. Only those who seek with their whole heart, with everything in them concentrating upon me, will ever really find me. I must have first place in the heart of My people.

If they relegate any lesser place than that, that is also a degree of blessing, of knowledge of Me that they will receive. I can only work with what is given to Me. To the degree that a heart is opened up and yielded to Me. that is the degree to which I can fill and bless and work in that life. That is the degree to which they will hear my voice and enjoy My guidance."

Manna For The Soul: Luke 5:1-11

The WORD

"Now it happened that he was standing one day by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the crowd pressing round him listening to the word of God, when he caught sight of two boats at the water's edge. The fishermen had got out of them and were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats -- it was Simon' s -- and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. When he had finished speaking he said to Simon, 'Put out into deep water and pay out your nets for a catch.' Simon replied, 'Master, we worked hard all night long and caught nothing, but if you say so, I will pay out the nets.' And when they had done this they netted such a huge number of fish that their nets began to tear, so they signaled to their companions in the other boat to come and help them; when these came, they filled both boats to sinking point. When Simon Peter saw this he fell at the knees of Jesus saying, 'Leave me, Lord; I am a sinful man.' For he and all his companions were completely awestruck at the catch they had made; so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were Simon' s partners. But Jesus said to Simon, 'Do not be afraid; from now on it is people you will be catching.' Then, bringing their boats back to land they left everything and followed him."

  Luke 5:1-11

In other words

In our life, we encounter instances where we are made to do things against our instincts or common sense. We would rather stick to doing things we are accustomed to. We are afraid to experiment with new and radical ideas. The "fear of the unknown" hinders us from venturing out into new ideas. But when we come to think about it, a lot of inventions and discoveries came about because some people were not afraid to experiment with new ideas or to deal with the "unknown."

Our faith challenges us to rise above the ordinary and conventional. The common situation of sinfulness can only be eradicated if one would dare "go against the system" and venture out into the new life of God's grace.
